My older cousin, who has a PHD from a Canadian university, and taught at several universities in Australia, Canada, England, and Scotland got sponsored by the University of Florida two years ago. He says that it has been by far the best work experience that he has ever had and has no desire to change positions. Aside from the job itself he has easily adapted to the Florida lifestyle, lie that is hard, and plans to settle down in the Sunshine State. As a Canadian with a PHD my cousin qualified for a TN visa, which only countries that are part of North American Free Trade Agreement (Canada and Mexico) can obtain. He had no trouble obtaining the visa and sine then renewing the visa has been an easy process. He has absolutely no plans to leave the University of Florida as he could not be much happier. My cousin has met several other staff members at the University of Florida who successfully obtained their employment through visa sponsorship. When it comes to visa sponsorship of foreign staff members the University of Florida seems to be quite meticulous, as he has not heard of many people who were denied their visa by US Department of State.
