Experiences:

Computing Officer 05/2022 - current
University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh, UK, Edinburgh United Kingdom
Industry: Education
Supporting staff and students with their issues, as well as ensuring that documentation and communication is adhered to.
Remaining in the acclaimed University realm, I’ve been working in the IS Operational Services shift-team since my harmonious departure from my previous role. This University is vastly larger in scale to my previous workplace; however, I’ve proven to efficiently transfer and apply my experience and skills to the many demanding tasks that I encounter, going above expectations in my first review and receiving a management award for performance as I often focus on resolving many complex and demanding issues. Furthermore, I have taken on project management responsibilities for testing service upgrades, which have been accomplished through collaboration, planning and implementation. By working in a more 1st Line role here, I’ve dealt with customers of all backgrounds and abilities which requires; patience, understanding and clear communication – instilling confidence in users to use bespoke systems. Additionally, I’ve built upon my existing knowledge in the IT field by constantly being adaptive and flexible alongside bespoke internal systems that are in operation, all while adhering to the monitored ITIL framework.--
Apprentice IT/AV Support Technician 08/2020 - 05/2022
University of St Andrews, St Andrews, UK, Fife United Kingdom
Industry: Education
Apprenticeship - working and studying alongside, which resulted in obtaining my Diploma, while gaining invaluable hands-on experience.
At one of the most prestigious University’s in the world, and No.1 in the UK awarded by The Sunday Times in 2022, I worked with the 2nd Line IT/AV team in learning many in depth skills and procedures within both fields of the role, as well as dealing with clients appropriately and respectfully while working within an ITIL framework. These skills include how to setup, maintain, document, and troubleshoot all aspects of the University’s chosen equipment - PC’s and Mac’s, Xerox printers, AV equipment such as microphones, projectors, cabinets, Extron panels and visualisers, as well as gaining knowledge and ability in networking. There are over 150 buildings and teaching spaces that require support, in tandem with over 12,000 staff and students both on-prem and remotely. Around 4500 – 8000 UniDesk calls are taken in each month, therefore the amount of critical knowledge that I gained from my employment there has been extremely useful towards the development of how I approach a demanding number of tasks with the skills above. Additionally, efficient communication is vital when dealing with a user who may be from any part of the world with limited English skills.--
