I am a former client of Steven G. Miller. I was not well represented by him. My advice to any consumer looking for an attorney is: First, call the Florida Bar to ask if there are any complaints against the attorney you have in mind. The Florida Bar does not discipline all their members unless a consumer's complaint and bill dispute exceeds $5,000.00. If it is less than $5,000.00 a consumer's bill dispute will be dismissed immediately. This was my case. Even if the Florida Bar dismisses a consumer's complaint and absolves an attorney of any wrong doing, that decision does not invalidate a consumer's experience with the attorney in question. Request the Florida Bar to email or mail you a copy of any consumers' complaints within the past 12 months. Second, search the internet for reviews left by current and former clients (not colleagues). Hire an attorney with high ratings only. Third, keep searching and check out the Better Business Bureau website for any complaints. DO NOT give the attorney any monies in advance as retainer fees without first securing a Retainer Agreement so that later you will not be disappointed when you find out that the attorney's understanding of your matter and what is expected from him to accomplish for you is well documented in a contract. Without a contract, you are at the attorney's mercy and it will be difficult if not impossible for you to get your monies back. This was my case. Wouild I recommend him to family and friends? NO. Was it worthy? NO. Was I overcharged? YES.
