| | Biography: | Maricela Amezola was born in Santa Ana, California and grew up in the San Joaquin Valley. She was raised by parents who were migrant workers trying to put her and her three sisters through school and eventually into college. On May 2002, she graduated from California State University, Fresno with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Criminology with an emphasis in Law Enforcement and a minor in victimology. She moved to Michigan to attend Michigan State College of Law and graduated cum laude in December 2006. She relocated to California, sat and passed the California bar in 2007.
