Used my knack for finding ways to optimise user experiences, to shave 4 seconds off an average support session, by making crucial information more available at a glance Designed a way to cut off-boarding time by more than half relying on customer research and ideating in a collaborative environment Enabled businesses to add 5x the amount of users by designing and building a dynamic multi-user access feature Built a new type of member into the business banking product that has optional spend controls, used by 67% of eligible businesses in less than a month after launch--
Founder 12/2023 - 06/2024
Inlucent Limited, , United Kingdom
Startup, Research, Planning, Development, Branding, Design, AWS, Next.JS, MySQL, Cloudflare, Serverless
Designed and developed the entire Codigy platform end-to-end. Utilized state-of-the art CI/CD software to realize a 47s average deploy time from PR merge to live. Used Ably to create a fully custom real-time messaging feature. Took full advantage of bleeding edge Partial Pre-Rendering feature of Next.JS to reduce First Contentful Paint from 0.7s to 0.3s, on pages with dynamic data loading. Migrated from PlanetScale to Turso, reducing monthly database running cost from $39 to $0.--
Engineering Team Lead 01/2023 - 12/2023
Superbet, London, United Kingdom
Promoted to engineering team lead at Superbet. Given the opportunity to build my own team to tackle the unique challenges presented to us by the high-frequency, low-latency data requirements of online gambling applications. Architecture, Leadership, Planning, Mentorship, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, microservices, GoLang, Rust, TypeScript, React
Created a positive and nurturing engineering culture, empowering 2 junior developers to deliver 44 unique UI components in just 5 months, replacing the existing component library, achieving over 80% reduction in bundle size: 1.2MB to 244kb, taking load time on 4G from 404ms to 80ms. Conducted 44 technical interviews in 2023, resulting in the hiring of 8+ software engineers. This accounted for 25% of all technical interviews conducted in 2023. Contributed to the company’s pool of interview questions, appearing in 100% of all technical interviews the company conducted. Proposed, spearheaded, planned and solo-developed an ISO 27001 compliant Role Based Access Control System to meet stringent gambling industry operating regulations on a tight time limit of just 2 months from inception to regulatory testing. Handed off the system with 0 outstanding issues and before the deadline. I wrote the back-end microservices in GoLang, using Docker for containerisation and Kubernetes for orchestration, deployed to AWS EC2. Authentication was done using Cognito and data was stored in DynamoDB. Enhanced input parsing, parameter handling, logging, and response standardization for our GoLang microservices, by updating the shared HTTP library to support cleaner and more consistent messaging and conducting educational sessions about using the Gin framework effectively. This led to clearer error messaging between client and server, ultimately reducing frontend development time.--
