In the Research and development department the main responsibility is to research on new products. Trial batches are manufactured and chemical and microbial analysis tests are then performed according to British Pharmacopeia and European Pharmacopeia. With attained information during analysis, dossier compilation is done and submitted at the local Medicines Council Authority of Zimbabwe (MCAZ), a body that evaluates and monitors product registration in the country.
As a generic manufacturing company, already existing products in the market are looked into for the development of drugs to minimize drug import. Hence the existing formulas are altered by changing one or more drug excipients. Excipient- API (active pharmaceutical ingredient) optimization is done before actually manufacturing trial batches so as to conduct studies on API delivery if it still meets the set standards.--
