As my thesis project to obtain my Mechanical Engineering degree, I worked in conceptualizing, designing, simulating and manufacturing a Rear Underrun Protection Device for a N2 Vehicle. This project was sponsored by General Motors, China.
• Designed Rear Underrun Protection Device (RUPD) model using SolidWorks for initial proposal. • Executed a 50kN two-point and a 100kN three-point loading tests on the RUPD using Ansys Mechanical to comply with the N2 Vehicle Chinese Requirements. • Conducted a comprehensive material search and selection for the structure considering cost, market availability, strength, and weldability.--

I was a Manufacturing intern in the Plastics Department at the Tesla Fremont factory in California. During this period I simultaneously worked in a variety of projects that encompassed new product release, scrap reduction through continuous improvement activities, tool design, test and verification, performed MBOM and managed various projects in collaboration with other engineering teams.
• $133,640 scrap reduction from various CI (Continuous Improvement) activities using Root Cause Analysis. • $15,270 scrap reduction by eliminated MS/MX fog lamps damages from supplier by re-designing MS/MX fog lamp packaging. • Designed an assembly fixture to support revision change on MX fascia, fog lamp bracket using Solid Works. • Develop MS/MX front license plate hand jig to meet 3mm cross car tolerance for SX Japan program launch. Performed capability studies on the hand jig to validate repeatability. • Performed process line studies and proposed a new layout for optimized forklift utilization. • Reduced forklift utilization by 30% by performing time studies. Updated layout with new storage location for various plastics part with optimized cycle time for forklift pick up. • Performed MBOM (Manufacturing Bill of Material) cost correction for various plastics assembly parts. • Welcomed Tesla customers in the showroom and oriented them to their purchased vehicles. • Represented Tesla to capture leads in the Fremont Festival of Arts by engaging people with the car models and products.--
