They used to be available either way, mine do not have the internal threads. It appears that the current stock collets come with the internal thread. The following is from their website: "The 5C collet includes precision internal threads for the Hardinge threaded positive stops. Exceptions are .985" round and over, .844" hexagon and over, and .704" square and over." I have a stop that fits into the small end of the collet, and is fixed inplace by a section that expands as a screw is tightened. A sliding rod can be set to the desired depth. Mine was made by Speed Stop in Portland.
