Skills:• Performs Various laboratory examination on collected blood as mandated by the Bureau of Research and Laboratories of the Department of Health on all blood unit for transfusion such as: - ABO Blood Grouping - Rh Blood Grouping - Malarial Parasite Screening (EIA and smear) - Syphillis Antibody Screening (EIA) - Hepatitis B surface antigen detection (Manual and EIA) - HIV Antibody testing (Manual and EIA) - HCV Antibody Screening (EIA) - Hbs Antibody Detection (EIA) • Prepares blood components • Carries out proper storage and issuance of blood and blood components • Performs serological test for out patients and staff referred to the clinical laboratory • Performs the functions of phlebotomists or receptionists whenever necessary. • Evaluates reagents and machines for use in serological testing. • Prepares Copper Sulfate Solution for hemoglobin determination • Keeps accurate record of laboratory examination, their results, the blood components prepared, incoming and outgoing blood units. • Helps in the maintenance of sanitation and upkeep of the National Blood Center Equipment and facilities and the proper disinfection and disposal of laboratory wastes. • Supervises and train medical technology interns, trainees and volunteers. • Consolidates monthly HIV reports for submission to the Bureau of Research and Laboratories and for the preparation of annual reports.
