AECOM, Birmingham, United Kingdom
Industry: Civil Engineering
Fully qualified Civil Engineering Technician after completing my modern apprenticeship and Higher National Certificate from Coventry University, UK.
During the five years I spent as part of the Infrastructure team in the United Kingdom, I
developed a wealth of knowledge and experience within the Civil Engineering industry. These
years of ‘on the job’ experience have been invaluable; I have been involved with over 100
projects for various teams within AECOM around the United Kingdom, working for clients in the
public and private sectors. My role at AECOM was both office and site based. I was also the
Local Safety Officer and Fire Marshall whilst working for AECOM.
Through day-to-day operations and practical experience I have gained a deep knowledge and
understanding of the industry; and through completing my Higher National Certificate in Civil
Engineering from Coventry University, I am now able to incorporate theoretical approaches to the role. I have been involved in various aspects of the design process from initial preliminary
stages through to detailed design, and have experience in assisting Engineers within areas
including:
• Drainage Design
• Road and Highway Design
• Geotechnical/GeoEnvironmental Design
• Hydrogeological Design
I am fully conversant in the use of AutoCAD software and was a member of the CAD steering group throughout AECOM Europe.
I have also been deeply involved in ground investigation works, including: trial pitting, the
collection and analysis of pumping test data (as part of hydrogeological feasibility studies using a
GA2000 gas analyser along with groundwater and surface water monitoring equipment), soil
sampling, quality sampling and logging of air monitoring/calibration equipment.
My proudest moment with AECOM came in September 2013, when I gained approval from
Northamptonshire County Council for my foul water drainage and highway design to be built on a
project consisting of 250 new build houses.--
