Highlights:As a Clinician I, my duties focused on practicing nursing fundamental nursing skills, professional critical thinking, and nursing process routinely so that those nursing qualities became more natural. Along the side of the 12-hour shifts, the department of employee education always encouraged and provided me in-service at least once a month. Also, due to the specialty of my former unit, frequent and heavy wound care (three to four patients per shift) as well as tracheostomy care were a part of my job.
Skills:critical care, intensive care, progressive care, transitional care
Goal:My intentions are to grow and become an efficient and effective nurse, especially at a critical care. While working at Transitional Care Hospital (progressive care) of University of Virginia Health System, there were many encounters with situations where patients were very unstable and sent back to ICU. More exposure to critical cases there were, faster my mind started to pick up the pace. The learning curve enlightened me with pursuit in critical care nursing.
