Mechanical Project Leader / Suspension and Vehicle Dynamics Leader 04/2012 - current
B'Energy Racing | Facens (Voluntary), Sorocaba, São Paulo Brazil
Industry: Automotive
As Suspension and Vehicle Dynamics Leader, I am responsible for the suspension system and vehicle dynamics attribute development through entire vehicle development process.
• Complete suspension and steering geometry / kinematics design and optimization (Lotus Suspension, Adams/Car).
• Design and FEA (Finite Element Analysis) of chassis / suspension components (Creo Parametric, SolidWorks).
• Development of a Vehicle Dynamics mathematical CAE model to quickly predict and optimize vehicle behavior resulting from any given Springs, Dampers, Anti-roll bars, Camber and Toe setup (Excel, Matlab).
• Tire modelling and Vehicle Dynamics kinematic CAE simulation (Excel, Adams/Car).
• Steering and suspension, manufacturing and assembly.
• Vehicle Testing, validation and setup.
To this day, I have developed most of my knowledge and skills about suspension development, chassis, vehicle dynamics and CAE in a self-taught way, pursuing information on technical literature, on-line courses, forums and exploring specialized software. I am also committed to keep developing my knowledge and skills, both by independent sources and formal training.
As Mechanical Project Leader of an electric racecar, I:
• Plan, manage, orientate, integrate and sign-off the design of all vehicle mechanical systems: brakes, chassis, drivetrain, steering and suspension.
• Manage mechanical parts purchasing and manufacturing to meet expected quality and schedule.
• Manage all electric and powertrain interfaces with mechanical systems.
• Write the complete BOM and detailed cost report of the vehicle, including detailed manufacturing processes. Also, write technical reports and perform presentations.
Every project runs over very short time and budget. Even under stressful conditions, we have successfully managed to create and maintain a very healthy, respectful, motivational and joyful environment.
I'm also the team's main racing driver at the competition.--
