Responsibility of an Army Officer since commission is basically to administer, manage, train and supervise a group of personnel including career planning and promotion.Number of people in group enhance with higher ranks. Usually , a MAJOR looks after a group of 200 persons of various junior ranks and files when a LT COL commands a group of 800 people. So, it is basically managing a large scale human resources considering all aspects. Beside commands, I have the experience of working as Grade-1( Lt Col)and Grade-2(MAJOR) staff to senior Generals in Army Headquarters.--
