Truth For Today Medical Missions Organization is a United States based organization that takes free mobile clinics to several countries around the world. I am its Kenyan representative and I have Volunteered with them for the last 7 years.
My responsibilities included:
1. Carrying out Logistics on how the medical equipment and medicine gets into the country through the airport and then to the premises of the free medical clinics.
2. Obtaining the necessary licenses for the international doctors, nurses, pharmacists and their corresponding team.
3. Obtaining the required licenses for the medical equipment and medicine form the various institutions of the Kenyan Government (PPB, KMPD, KRA)
4. Obtaining the necessary permission from the Ministry of Health in the hosting County as per the measures outlined by the Government of Kenya.
5. Carrying out simple laboratory tests during the clinics (Blood glucose tests and urinalysis strictly under the doctors’ supervision) and recording the results.
6. Acting as a translator between the doctors and the local patients in cases of language barrier.--
