As part of my studies in Dublin City University, I was required to spend six months working in an engineering environment, where I would be able to learn new skills, and apply my knowledge gained from completing a number of classes while in university. Working as a Process and Upgrades Engineer, I was able to design and fabricate new innovative machines and parts for existing plant. This linked into my work in pre- and post-production tasks used to optimize plant performance. A lot of work involved chemical trials, product studies, six sigma and lean manufacturing techniques use in production optimization and sourcing and supplying of materials. This position required me to utilize my previous knowledge of manufacturing techniques and mechanical engineering and to learn more advanced forms of these, in addition to chemical engineering and laboratory processes involved in quality management.--
