safety. • Providing warmth and comfort to newborn by maintaining normal body temperature through placing in radiant warmer, exposing under floor lamp and isolette as indicated. • Performing routine newborn care such as bathing, cord care, feeding and perianal care by regular changing of diaper. • Carrying out doctor's orders on admission, medication treatments, diagnostic procedures, surgery, transfer and discharge • Carrying out plan of care from admission until discharge of patient and referring to physician accordingly. • Monitoring, recording and reporting the condition and progress of newborn. • Preparing and administering medications and other treatments like nebulization and phototherapy as indicated. • Participating in the management of newborn under mechanical ventilatory assistance, and CPAP from onset to weaning. • Preparing the neonate and assisting during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as umbilical exchange blood transfusion for ABO incompatibility. • Preparing the materials and supplies needed for minor procedures and ensuring completeness and sterility of equipment used and available each shift. • Assisting in emergency minor surgery such as venesection and thoracostomy tube insertion. • Providing psychological, emotional, social and spiritual support to newborn and mother as well as immediate relatives. • Providing clean, safe, therapeutic and risk free environment. • Evaluating newborn care management in terms of appropriateness, adequacy, effectiveness and efficiency. • Documenting and reporting the newborn's assessment, intervention and evaluation under his care. • Giving proper instructions on newborn care such as bathing, cord care, breastfeeding and immunization to mother and family upon discharge. • Coordinating with different ancillary and support services through proper channels. • Maintaining confidentiality and safekeeping of newborn's records. • Preparing charge slip/bills patients on procedures
