The first one main goal is to classify different substances using spectral data from mid-infrared optical experiments. The new method currently being developed will allow faster classification, using sensors with low signal-to-noise ratio and using less power on the laser source. Applications can be found on explosive detection, quality control, and pharmaceutical applications. Second project involves developing a new method to evaluate splanchnic regional tissue oxygenation measurements on pre-term neonates and study its correlation with necrotizing enterecolitis.--
