Web Master 03/01/1995 - 05/01/1999
Universidad Iberoamericana, Mexico City, MEX Mexico
Industry: Education
Of Jesuit filiation, "La Ibero" is one of the most respected private universities in Mexico. Founded in 1943, it features 19 academic departments, one of the largest libraries of its kind, a successful public radio station and an astronomical observatory. A teacher from my second semester invited me to work with him at his role as computer labs manager.
As part of the user support staff, I assisted fellow students into using the internet, configuring email accounts, setting up the computer labs, and general user assistance.
As a web developer, I started by being in charge of the computer labs’ web site. Then came the Computer Science dept. site, and finally, the University’s site.
Main achievements:
- My web sites were the first on campus to use a proper web development server-side language (PHP) instead of relying on CGI scripts.
- Made a complete redesign of the University’s web site organization, look and feel, away from the original, incipient one. The main principles of this redesign were kept for at least 3 years after I left.--
